Abstract Bridge resilience is a newly proposed bridge design criterion that involves robustness, redundancy and reparability targeting on the rapidity of functionality restoration after suffering extreme actions long-term durability deterioration. It stipulates lower probability reaching ultimate limit state or strength state, which have been only partly involved in codes around world. In AASHTO LRFD Design Specifications Eurocodes, there are some principles related to resilience. Yet, it also necessary give more requirements for structural ductility collapse resistance when actual load exceeds combination code. This paper focuses resilience-based design, exposes problematic systems details, such as bridges most likely overturning, steel with fracture critical members, arch suspended desk, Morandi cable-stayed bridges, poor details seismic vulnerability, etc. Whereas overturning one worst anti-resilience scenarios, against highlighted through detailed discussion including calculation methods anti-overturning factor, stability curved reasonable disposition supports, countermeasures.
